About the Role |
Oversee the daily operations of Invoice to Cash team (Accounts Receivable, Treasury Back Office, Collection Services and Intercompany Reconciliation). Ensure Invoice to Cash end to end processes, are performed in accordance with corporate policies, internal controls, and regional guidelines Ensure efficient, accurate, and compliant processing and settlement of financial transactions, accurate record keeping, and effective risk management. Ensure high level of Service Quality within the given compliance and budget framework through Knowledge Management, Employee Development, continuous improvement, digitalization, close connection to the stakeholders and a constant close eye on developments in the market that could impact our business. Key Responsibilities |
Managers' focus:
- 50% - Focus on operational excellence, business partnering, steer service performance in accordance with GB target and strategies. As second level escalation for business partners.
- 50% - Increase expertise and competencies by focusing on people wellbeing and career progression. Target for low attrition rate, adequate talent pool, and effective succession planning.
Team Leadership
- Manage and supervise a team to deliver Invoice to Cash services to BASF group companies.
- Responsible for hiring, promotion, and managing the performance of the team.
- Plan, organize and implement resource requirements to provide excellent services, including recruitment, development and budgeting.
- Promote employee interest in personal and professional growth and assign tasks accordingly to support their growth.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to team members for development needs and opportunities.
- Establish good interpersonal relationships to motivate, value, appreciate, and capitalize on team strengths.
- Forecast and allocate resources for stakeholder/customer visits, internal activities etc.
Service Delivery & Quality
- Ensure services delivered by the team meet the agreed Service Level Agreements by monitoring ambitious targets and KPI’s.
- Continuously benchmark team performance both within BASF as well as on the external market to find gaps and improvement potentials.
- Design, develop and implement strategies to improve services in the Asia Pacific region and anticipate the service recipients needs.
- Ensure compliance with BASF requirements, Financial Reporting Compliance (FRC), and local legal regulations.
- Set high quality standards, develop and implement training programs and ensure efficient knowledge sharing to continuously enhance the team’s capabilities and guarantee sustainable knowledge retention.
- Implement continuous improvement opportunities in quality and efficiency, prioritizing business needs.
- Maintain updated work documentation and processes in line with Internal Control requirements.
Projects & Improvement
- Initiate and control internal projects to optimize service processes and collaboration.
- Contribute to overall projects using available resources.
- Work on constant process improvement and strategy adjustment.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Foster business partnering by actively interacting with stakeholders.
- Ensure good collaboration in an atmosphere that promotes trust, innovation, and change.
- Regularly exchange updates on KPIs, projects, and process improvements with global management teams.
- Provide proactive solutions and support to business partners and stakeholders.
- Frequent collaboration with internal BASF Group stakeholders and communities (e.g. Credit Risk
- Management, Cash Management, local company Sales and CSOs) and external stakeholders (e.g.customers, auditors, bank and collection agent) both globally as well as regional/local.
- Close collaboration with other service delivery units in the Hubs.
Functional Specifics
- Oversee debt collection activities, including reminders, dispute resolution, and initiating handover to collection agencies, while maximizing recovery rates and minimizing overdue accounts.
- Ensure processes comply with corporate requirements and regional guidelines, maintaining transparency in documentation for stakeholders.
- Manage the processing and settlement of financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with accounting standards.
- Oversee the end-to-end invoice to cash process, including timely invoicing, payment collection reconciliation, and monitoring customer accounts to identify at-risk accounts.
- Manage daily, monthly, and quarterly reconciliation processes for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Goods Receipt/Invoice Receipt, ensuring accurate tracking and resolution of intercompany differences and overdue invoices.
- Collaborate with various departments to resolve billing disputes, support month-end and year-end closing activities, and provide accurate financial reports related to treasury operations.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, system access, and process explanations
- Drive automation initiatives to improve reconciliation efficiency and reduce manual interventions

- Perform other duties as and when delegated.

Minimum Qualifications |
Education:
- Undergraduate or Postgraduate Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Administration.
- Preferably a member or eligible for admission to Malaysian Institute of Accountants or other Professional bodies (CIMA, ACCA, CFA).
Work Experience:
- 12-18 years’ experience in Finance and Accounting (in addition 2-3 years in managing a team).
- Leadership Experience (Team size >10 FTE)
- Project Experience (preferably International)
Technical Skills
- Knowledge and understanding in Debt Collection, Accounts Receivable and Treasury.
- Advanced knowledge in standard Microsoft Office software (word, excel, power point).
- Proficiency in English required with good communication in verbal, writing and interpersonal skills with high customer focus. Proficiency in other languages is a plus.
- Knowledge of SAP system is an added advantage but not mandatory.
- Experience in shared service or multinational company preferable.
