Main responsibilities

EHS Management System

  • Gap analysis and implementation for the new EHS regulation and requirement.
  • Maintains EHS management system (IMS) and documentations.
  • Support to implement EHS standards to compliance according local and BASF requirement.
  • Define training needs, coordinate/arranges/delivery EHS training.
  • Introduce and initiate country EHS TA together with site TA.
  • Work with the country EHS to deliver competitive, reliable and high quality EHS services according to site needs.
  • Benchmarks the EHS performances in the site (i.e. Initiates measures and proposals to contain the potential issues and continuously improves EHS standards of the Sites).

 

Stakeholder Management

  • Interfaces with site management & Business unit.
  • Interfaces with local industry groups on behalf of BASF for issue management and advocacy. Represents BASF to participant local industry organization.
  • Dialogues regularly with site managements to evaluate level of service, prioritizes & allocates resources and improves effectively and efficiency of the EHS service.
  • Implement service catalogue and conducts service dialogue with site and business unit to fine-tune the service scopes.

 

TDS (Transportation & Distribution Safety)

  • Ensure safety and security standards for all modes of transportation are implementing and compliance.
  • Nomination as Country/Site Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor.
  • Training and Guidance to TDS related personnel involved in distribution safety processes.
  • Conduct TDS Reviews for all Responsible person.
  • Conduct Safety and Quality Assessments of suppliers, service providers and customers that transport or store our raw materials or goods.
  • Incorporation of Transportation and Distribution Safety Performance in the Procurement Process.
  • Carrier/Trucker Qualification Checks and Performance Evaluation.
  • Incident Investigation, Corrective Actions and Reporting.

 

ER (Emergency Response)

  • Nomination as Country Emergency Expert.
  • Assist to develop, review On-site Emergency Response Plans and scenario, fire prevention concept and compliance to legal and BASF requirement.
  • Conduct Fire prevention assessment and fire prevention concept to meet as per requirement.
  • Provide expertise to support and review for fire prevention design and equipment installation.

 

Crisis and Security Management

  • Nomination as Country/Local Security Manager as per BASF requirement.
  • Provide expertise to support Site Security concept.
  • Conduct self-assessment site security and security risk assessment.
  • Coordinate with regional team to provide security review.
  • Lead to investigate security incident.
  • Develop and prepare readiness Country Incident Management.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Science, Engineering, Production, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or PhD is an advantage.
  • At least 5 years of experience in production, engineering, or EHS is required. Leadership experience is an advantage.
  • A professional-level Safety Officer must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English is required.
  • Strong communication and management skills, familiarity with local EHS legislation and legal requirements, and a solid understanding of EHS unit scope and functions are required.
