Description
Product Safety Asia Pacific is an integrated expertise platform for steering compliant and safe product across the entire product value chain for BASF. We provide effective & efficient standard services and customized professional expertise services for various business and cross regions.
As Sustainability Specialist, the role is crucial in contributing towards BASF’s sustainability initiatives and the growing demands within the region, all the while working closely alongside a diverse and multicultural team on the global level.
Objectives:
- Systematic analysis and evaluation of potential environmental impacts associated with a product or process by determining materials, equipment, energy utilized, and waste eliminated to the environment.
- Support the operating divisions on their development towards more sustainable process or products.
Main Tasks:
- As specialist to prepare sustainability assessment analyses using Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) to enable BASF to enter new markets and maintain and grow existing business.
- Maintain and continuously expand knowledge of various LCA and carbon footprint calculation standards.
- Manage projects in collaboration with the operating divisions, BASF sites as well as process designers, analyzing the chemical processes of the plants.
- Work directly with plant managers and technology experts in the operating divisions to analyze processes and validate calculations that contribute to BASF's carbon footprint.
- Advise the operating units and prepare evaluations for our customers on LCA and carbon footprint issues.
- Work globally with external customers in the field of LCA.
- Continuous self-development through proactive learning and development (70:20:10 approach)
Requirements
Education:
- Master's degree in engineering or natural sciences
Working Experience:
- At least 3 years work experiences, preferable in chemical and/or petrochemical industry
- Sound knowledge of chemical production or process engineering
- Good understanding of chemical processes as well as process modelling and analysis
- Experience in coordinating tasks and in project management
Technical & Professional Knowledge:
- Proficient command of written and spoken English skills are mandatory . Other languages are an advantage.
- Ability to manage internal and external stakeholders meeting the demand of providing innovative solutions, on sustainable actions.
- Strong interpersonal /influencing skills, independent, strong analytical, problem solving, and strategic skills is an added advantage
