GDE/A - Product Manager SAP Authorization (m/f/d)

Responsibilities 

You are part of a global leadership team who is ensuring BASF ‘s business continuity by providing stable platforms for the very large global SAP landscape of BASF group based on innovative technologies and state of the art operation for a leading chemical company. We are in the middle of our S/4 transformation project and are ramping up a significant team in our new Digital Hub in Hyderabad, India. This position offers the opportunity to build something new and become a cornerstone of the long‑term operational backbone of our global S/4 landscape. Excel in it. Drive continuous improvement of S/4 operational processes—leveraging AI where beneficial—ensuring harmonization, lean practices, and structured product lifecycle management with a strong focus on radical standardization. Develop internal expertise to ensure long-term operational excellence across the S/4 solution landscape. Contribute to the organizational development of our broader team and be an active member of a forward‑looking leadership team. 
While we have a focus on SAP Authorization, we are very much welcoming candidate with a broader SAP experience, mainly with Test & release management, deployment & SAP development management and cross SAP services. 
 
Here are some of your key responsibilities, which can be applied to SAP cross topics beyond authorizations:  

• Global SAP Authorization Ownership: Leads SAP authorization implementation and support including delivery of SAP Authorizations for projects across BASF and serves as the primary contact for audits assessments based on Corporate Guidelines. You drive innovation, automation and leverage AI capabilities in day-to-day operations. 

• Leadership of a Distributed Global Team: Leads a worldwide SAP Authorization product team and steers external global service providers to ensure efficient, high quality service delivery. Owns budgeting, resource planning, team development, goal setting, and performance management aligned with corporate standards and strategic transformation goals. 

• End to End DevOps Accountability for SAP Authorizations: Drives all DevOps activities based on agile methodologies for continuous operational improvement of SAP Authorization concepts and the related implementations. 

Qualifications 

Completed university degree in Business Informatics, Business Administration or Computer Science with several years of professional experience  

Several years of professional experience in various areas in the IT/digital environment, including SAP, as well as experience in application projects   

Practiced leadership skills (orchestration and management of cross-functional topics), entrepreneurial thinking and organizational awareness    

Ability to critically question the status quo and openness for new trends and innovations  

Strong communication skills, effective communication and very good written and spoken English skills  

Good conflict management skills, high customer orientation and empathy when dealing with stakeholders across the organization
