WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

The main working area of our pathology unit within the department of Toxicology and Ecology is the whole anatomical and clinical pathology technique from necropsy to histopathological assessment as well as assessment of clinical chemical and hematologic data from animal studies. Join our team and be the clinical pathologist and lab team leader for all types of mechanistic and regulatory studies.

 

  • As part of our department your main responsibilities will address the assessment and reporting of hematology and clinical chemistry parameters including
    interpretation of metabolome data in compliance with international guidelines, GLP and ISO standards.
  • You will be the lab team leader for a team of technicians with responsibility for daily work, planning and safety. Furthermore, you will provide scientific guidance for laboratory activities and the lab team.
  • You will also collaborate within an interdisciplinary team of anatomical pathologists, scientists and laboratory experts to ensure high-impact clinical pathology assessments.
  • You will participate in the scientific and technical development, establishment and validation of new methods.
  • Fulfilling this task, you will contribute to publication and communication and build strong collaborations to characterize clinical pathology findings and identify potential safety risks.
  • Last but not least, you will strive continuously for improvement of criteria for efficiency, quality, and safety.

WHAT YOU OFFER

  • PhD or equivalent in veterinary medicine (German veterinary license [approbation] is mandatory) or equivalent qualification in bio science with broad experience in biochemistry and metabolomics
  • board-certified/eligible for board certification (ACVP/ECVCP) in veterinary clinical pathology or comparable national certification with a keen interest in specializing in toxicological pathology 
  • ideally substantial expertise in toxicologic or investigative clinical pathology from a contract research organization, pharmaceutical industry or diagnostic laboratory
  • knowledge of basic toxicology, laboratory animal science and animal welfare
  • excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • high level of interpersonal skills, such as strong leadership and management skills
  • profound data mindset and ability to leverage digital skills and means to solve scientific problems
