The Development Engineer will support our Cellasto business in developing, designing and coordinating the construction of production tools including foaming molds, cutting and assembling fixtures and inspection gauges for Cellasto production, following global design guidelines while coordinating the interface with S&E, Production, Procurement, Quality and external Vendors. You will be responsible for managing tool projects throughout their whole life cycle, going from ideation to manufacturing and beyond, making sure effective production is achieved with minimal reject levels.
As a Tool Design Engineer, you create chemistry by...
- Designing Cellasto foaming molds according to global design guidelines, supporting the successful introduction of new products into production phase with minimal reject levels.
- Coordinating the construction and modification of tools, managing timelines and ensuring global quality specification for tools are met.
- Supporting the Design review and Reject Rate meetings and providing technical insights for design optimizations, with focus in product functionality and process performance (reject levels and manufacturability).
- Supporting Operations in troubleshooting existing tool to minimize the level of reject rate by suggesting and implementing design optimizations, according to the global design guidelines and in alignment with S&E and Quality.
- Designing, coordinating the construction and introducing assembling fixtures and inspection gauges.
- Managing projects workflows and design documentation.
If you...
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or correlated area, with a blend of professional experience that supports the success in the role.
- Possess preferably at least 3 years of experience in in tool or product design for automotive industry in one or more of the following operations: molding (cast, injection or blow molding), machining or assembly.
- Have a solid ability with CAD (CREO Elements/Pro/Solid Works preferred), construction and process verification and DFM principles.
- Have solid understanding of the mold design process including interpreting part designs and translating to mold designs and drawings, incorporating DFM requirements and leading mold design reviews.
- Understand tool construction process.
- Have strong EHS orientation and emphasis in both personnel and process safety.
- Are able to lead yourself and execute your work with minimal level of supervision.
- Are a good team player and communicate well across multiple levels of the organization.
