Senior BI DevOps Engineer (BW/4HANA)

Summary

• BASF started the transformation from currently one global corporate reporting system (SAP BW 7.5) to several systems based on SAP BW/4 HANA and SAP Datasphere. In our Product Team – Business Intelligence (BI) Core Platform – you together with the team are in an active role to develop and operate the reporting platforms of BASF group based on these technologies. We are open to the use of AI when it becomes available and support to make it happen in our area if responsibility.
• In this role, you will do Technical Management, Quality Assurance (QA) and development the framework in a highly integrated and complex SAP and non-SAP environment. In this transformation you will be integrational part, designing the framework, bring it to life already during the project and establishing the stable operation

Responsibility

• In BASFs path forward for Business Intelligence, you, together with the team, will be in active several areas of BI Core Platforms:
• You will be part of major project of BASFs technological transformation in the BI area. Together with the experts from the BI process teams and the QA team you will bring the greenfield approach for BASF core chemicals reporting platform (SAP BW/4HANA) to life. Your own software development skills create value in projects; therefore, your strong consultancy and programming skills are required. You are also able to take over the management of developments in cooperation with internal colleagues or external service providers.
• Beside the project work, you and the team are also responsible for operations of the existing and new landscape. Within the Technical Management you will measure the pulse of the systems, collaborate with the SAP Basis team and do QA (architecture, design, code and security). With your deep experience, you keep the systems running smoothly. In addition, you regularly run maintenance tasks, do continuous service improvement, housekeeping and execute / support test activities.
• You also contribute to the central topics like master data management and authorization. As experienced teammate, you also create and maintain rules and guidelines relevant for the DevOps community.
• BASF is also currently introducing SAP Datasphere you have the chance learn with the team how to run it most efficiently.

Requirements

Education

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in business informatics or business administration with a focus on IT or computer science with a focus on business administration. Alternatively, you have a comparable completed vocational training with several years of IT experience in various functions.

Working Experience

• At least 10 years of professional experience in Business intelligence, best in SAP Business Warehouse

Technical & Professional Knowledge (Mandatory)

• You have experience and passion for SAP BW/4HANA backend.
• In-depth knowledge of HANA native development
• You are very experienced in ABAP / ABAP OO in a BW environment,
• Very good practical knowledge of SAP AMDP and native SQL as well as about SAP HANA data bases.
• Your contribution in Quality Assurance (architecture, design, coding, security) helps projects and developers to fulfil BASF requirements to security and quality and to deliver high quality solutions.
• Within the Technical Management skills, you can easily collaborate with SAP Basis team and application teams
• Your analytical skills have always been appreciated in your professional life
• You can communicate clearly and authentically in English (spoken and written).
• You like to work in an international team.

Technical & Professional Knowledge (Additional plus/nice to have Skills)

• Experience SAP Datasphere is of advantage.
• Experience working agile with a DevOps mindset.
• Knowledge in frontend-tools for SAP BW like SAP Analytics Cloud or Analysis for Office
• Usage of AI in SAP environment
