WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

·       Human Health (Assessment, Control & Response) 

In this role, you will: 

·       Collaborate with a global team focused on development, implementation and support of software solutions related to the environment, health and safety (EHS) of people and production plants at BASF. 

·       Provide ongoing development and maintenance related to the existing and continuously developing global portfolio of operational EHS digital solutions 

·       Support project work related to implementation of an existing offering or development of a new solution within the operational EHS portfolio 

Develop a comprehensive understanding of the databases relevant to the operational EHS portfolio and ensure the ongoing sustainability of those internal product offerings.

MAIN TASKS

Digitization / innovation  

Act as a Global / Regional representative of BASF Digital community, supporting BASF Digital roadmap, helping GDS to identify, execute and implement customer-centric digital solutions in an actionable and measurable way. 

• You will leverage your expertise in database architecture to design new database solutions as part of new product development projects for the operational EHS portfolio. You will use your skills in Database Administration to support database setup, building/ modifying the architecture based on the need for various solutions in the operational EHS product portfolio 
• You will gather requirements, through communication with subject matter experts and stakeholders 
• Collaborate with internal and external personnel, including system architects and software developers to determine project requirements and capabilities, and strategize development and implementation timelines 
• Help other team members, especially software developers, with understanding how to work with the database server, database and its schema through training and individual support, and by preparing database queries, stored procedures, views 
• Recommend solutions to improve new and existing database systems 
• Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new elements You will demonstrate customer focus by quickly troubleshooting and resolving issues affecting ongoing use of the solution portfolio, including Power BI dashboards connected to various EHS source systems 
• You will support the implementation and ongoing support of cloud-based databases for internally developed EHS platforms  
• You will support the setup of data lake layer for the topics related to operational EH

REQUIREMENTS

• Degree or significant work experience in Computer Science, informatics, business informatics or in a comparable field 
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role 
• Database architecture and design experience for large projects and products  
• Expertise in PostgreSQL database design, maintenance and troubleshooting is mandatory. Additional expertise in the following and not limited to MongoDB, Cosmos DC, Redis would be advantageous.  
• Expertise in Databricks 
• Experiencing Agile way of working or agile implementation approach 
• Proficiency in Power BI 
• Proficiency in working with cloud databases especially Azure (or AWS and others) 
• Experience in data warehousing and mining, data visualization and data migration. 
• Familiarity with Digital technology - e.g.: RPA / automation, Power Platform, Machine leaning / artificial intelligence, etc 
• Strong Digital mindset to accelerate BASF Digitalization transformation journey 
• Excellent issue isolation, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.  
• Knowledge of DevOps tools for development, release, and monitoring 
• Experience working in an agile scrum based team  
• Experience learning independently and coaching others
