Now hiring! Millwright Mechanic - Monaca

We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic at our Monaca, PA location to be responsible for installing, maintaining, improving and troubleshooting site mechanical equipment in order to provide safe operation with maximum production availability.

The responsibilities of this position are for large industrial sized equipment: 

  • Complete required repairs and tasks to mechanical systems in an efficient, timely manner in order to restore or maintain safe operating capability.   
  • Install new mechanical systems and equipment according to vendor specifications given, and in strict accordance to site and corporate standards and policies, thus improving plant safety or reliability.

 

During your 8-hour shift as a Millwright Maintenance Mechanic, you will

  • Recommend changes to existing mechanical systems or equipment to improve reliability or accuracy or further optimize processing.
  • Recommend tools, equipment or methods to improve the safety and timeliness of system repairs.
  • Communicate and Document any alterations to existing mechanical equipment to ensure all site records are current and proper documentation is completed.
  • Support and continually apply.
  • Ability to track personal labor hours on jobs, determine any material needs and document into SAP.
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping in assigned work areas.
  • Support and participate in the site ISO 9000, PSM, RMP, RCMS and Quality Improvement policies and procedures.
  • Support & participate in the BASF Process Safety Program (i.e. Zero Incident Mindset, complete training, report all incidents, participate in investigations etc.).

This position is part of the Union and is covered under the collective bargaining agreement.  All benefits are outlined in this agreement.

Formula for Success

  • 2-year technical degree Mechanical system/Equipment maintenance plus 5 years relevant experience in an industrial, chemical or power plant OR High School diploma/GED plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in an industrial, chemical or power plant.
  • Detailed knowledge and troubleshoot mechanical equipment including rotating and reciprocating equipment.
  • Detailed knowledge of piping, bolting, gasketing and the ability to repair or fabricate new systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints, sketches, mechanical drawings, and detailed mechanical equipment diagrams.
  • Familiarity with welding, cutting and machining of carbon and stainless steel alloys.
  • Proficient knowledge and use of various test instruments such as dial calipers, micrometers, and alignment devices.
  • A working knowledge of computers & MS Windows operating system, E-Mail, and Internet Explorer is required.   
  • Familiarity with safety practices and techniques relating to the chemical industry (e.g. LOTO, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs and ladders and work in confined spaces 
  • Must be willing and able to work either 8 hour shift 7:00am - 3:30pm OR 11:30pm - 7:00am
