What you can expect

We are looking for a candidate to join us in this position within our group Structures & Surfaces as soon as possible and lead a team of committed, highly qualified colleagues.

  • It will be your task to take part in the management of the central X-ray diffraction lab.
  • You will support BASF in maintaining and expanding its leading position in key technologies such as catalysts, battery materials and others.
  • Working closely with partners in BASF's research community, you will actively advance the innovation process with your own project ideas towards success.
  • You will utilize existing research and scientific cooperative relationships with external institutions and facilities as well as expand and develop these further on your own in order to identify and validate new scientific and research approaches.
  • You will be responsible for compliance with occupational health, safety and environmental rules and regulations within your area of work.

What we expect

  • You have a PhD in mineralogy, geology, material science, chemistry or physics, on which you earned above-average marks, or have years of experience that have given you equivalent qualifications.
  • You should have a good academic foundation in crystallography and be well versed in modelling tools to extract quantitative information from diffraction patterns.
  • You are required to have experience in treating large number of data in an automated or semi-automated fashion from non-ambient data collections.
  • Good knowledge of the TOPAS modelling software will be a great benefit.
  • Experience in the field of battery research or catalysis is considered helpful and experience in instrumentation, synchrotron or lab diffractometers will be beneficial.
  • You are also impressive for your determination and orientation toward goals, but also teamwork and communication skills, which you use to lead your employees to success, among other things.
