Objectives of the Position

Management and steering of shore tank terminal operations covering the management of all interfaces with loading or discharging bulk cargo from parcel tankers. This includes collaborating on jetty scheduling, management of berthing windows, collaboration on the arrangements of ancillary support services such as nitrogen purging arrangements, slop disposal arrangement, cleaning solvent arrangements etc. The role also includes coordination activities with other roles in the delivery chain such as Customs Forwarding unit, Surveyor, Import/Export Operations , Distribution network management, Business Units with focused on optimizing operations and cost containment with specific focus on demurrage avoidance. 

Main Tasks

Service Provider Management

  • Operational vendor management role in steering and developing shore tank operations and to establish visibility, transparency on tank terminal services across Asia Pacific. This includes service delivery management, service requests, structural and tactical escalation management.


Bulk Parcel loading and discharging Operations

  • Steering and coordinating country GB resources on management of berthing prospects using berthing line ups for berthing prioritization and timeliness. Engaging actively with GBPO on vessel itinerary updates and work together on vessel berthing arrangements and timing. Coordinate with terminals to expedite vessel turnaround including taking the lead role in seeking resolutions in any shore to ship disputes or issues.

Cargo Management and Distribution Support

  • The service usually involves working closely with material planners including business units to ensure adequate material availability for both loading and discharging operations in terms of shore tank ullage in line with loading or discharging operations.  Where cargo is meant for local distribution, work closely with the Distribution Network Teams to harmonized operations for local distribution activities including terminals performance in loading intended road transports.

Operational Cost & Performance Management

  • The identification of applicable cost elements and tracking cost developments in tandem with operations including formulating cost containment measures covering both operational tank management and parcel tanker demurrage avoidance. Additionally, this scope includes cost reporting, KPI determination, tabulation and assessment , non-conformance management and other administrative supporting activities and functions.


  • Coordinating safety related matters including CDI-T inspections with Procurement leading and supporting EHS, collaborating on the creation and review of Business Continuity Plans and other incidental safety related matters pertaining to shore-ship interfaces. 


  • A degree/professional qualification (e.g. ICS/CILT), BS or BA degree in business management, supply chain management or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in handling Bulk Terminal Operations especially on operations covering parcel tanker loading and discharging operations and general bulk terminal operations.
  • Possesses excellent communication management skills (written and spoken), analytically inclined and able to work with minimum supervision, proactive, result-oriented and a good team player
  • Experience in Supply Chain processes as well as ability to report and work with remote managers and teams.
