Objectives of the Position

  • Responsible to observe regulatory changes in Customs legislation in A/P Region and global (with impact on A/P) and evaluate the impact on BASF and the legal entities in the Countries.
  • Understands National and Regional regulations in terms of process requirements, duty savings programs such as Free Trade Agreements and prohibitions & restrictions
  • Supports Customs teams in the Hub and in Countries regarding implementation of new procedures and regulations.  Holds the role of central person to represent BASF in Asia Pacific Trade Facilitation Programs including driving programs and initiatives across Business Units and consulting and advising them in Customs specific questions


Main Tasks

  • Increase transparency on new laws, regulations and customs agreements and ensure implementation in Operational processes in Asia Pacific
  • Ability to lobby and advocate towards Asia Pacific Trade or other Governmental Agencies
  • Closely align activities with global Customs Expert Team to ensure smooth implementation of regulatory changes and reporting to BASF Corporate Center
  • Coordinate and support Customs License activities, like Authorized Economic Operator
  • Advise and consult Business Units in Asia Pacific in Customs regulations and for specific topics
  • Proactively engage Customs Communities of practices to ensure globally defined processes
  • Conduct knowledge transfer to Asia Pacific customs communities of practices (Hub and Legal entities)
  • Support Customs Operations Management & team in audit activities
  • Propose and initiate Training Concepts for Customs and Export/Imports Teams in Asia Pacific


  • Education: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree from recognized education institution
  • Fluent & Proficient in written and spoken English are necessary for the position
  • Working Experience: Minimum 10 years work experience in Customs and/or Foreign Trade Technical & Professional
  • Deep know-how on customs laws and regulations within Asia Pacific or more than 1 country
  • Know how on Products and Markets related to Prohibitions & Restrictions and Trade Control laws
  • Leadership & Project management experience preferred
  • Strong communication and argumentation skills
  • Structured work organization and teamwork competence
  • Good knowledge of the SAP master data systems, Global Trade Systems or equivalent Foreign Trade Systems will be added advantage
