As a Reliability Engineer, you will lead site reliability initiatives and manage a multi-year reliability roadmap focused on improving equipment availability, asset effectiveness, safety, and lifecycle costs. You will use industry reliability methodologies, including Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Risk-Based Inspection (RBI), Root Cause Analysis and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCA/RCFA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Bad Actor Analysis, preventive and predictive maintenance, and condition monitoring, across rotating and static equipment. You will also provide technical expertise related to hazard assessments, materials of construction, chemical compatibility, and equipment design. Working closely with Operations, Management, Capital, Stores, Procurement, contractors, and expert services teams, you will help achieve reliability Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
As a Reliability Engineer, you create chemistry by...
- Leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations for complex and recurring equipment failures, utilizing Cause and Effect Mapping, Fishbone Analysis, 5 Whys, Failure Mode Analysis, and corrective action development to identify root causes, eliminate recurring failures, and verify the effective implementation of solutions.
- Developing and improving asset reliability and Mechanical Integrity programs, including Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Preventive Maintenance (PM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM), Risk-Based Inspection (RBI), corrosion management, structural integrity, pressure relief device compliance, piping integrity, and flexible hose programs to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of plant assets.
- Analyzing SAP/Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) data, work order history, failure modes, equipment defects, and asset performance indicators to identify reliability risks, bad actors, recurring failures, and improvement opportunities, while developing and communicating reliability metrics, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and recommendations to leadership and site stakeholders.
- Developing critical equipment, spare parts, and equipment care strategies aligned with business objectives and operational, safety, and environmental risks.
- Leading predictive and precision maintenance programs, including vibration analysis, ultrasound, thermography, lubrication, alignment, balancing, and defect elimination.
- Driving precision maintenance best practices, including alignment, balancing, contamination control, proper installation, bearing practices, torque management, and pipe strain elimination.
- Developing equipment standards, repair procedures, work instructions, job plans, and technical requirements to support routine Management of Change (MOC), maintenance activities, turnarounds, and capital projects.
If you...
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Bring at least 5 years of experience in reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, Mechanical Integrity, or asset reliability within an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrate experience leading Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations using Cause and Effect Mapping or similar root cause analysis methodologies.
- Possess working knowledge of Mechanical Integrity programs, including Risk-Based Inspection (RBI), fixed equipment reliability, corrosion management, and regulatory compliance.
- Offer experience developing reliability strategies using Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Preventive Maintenance (PM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM), condition monitoring, and precision maintenance best practices.
- Bring knowledge of rotating equipment design and operation, including pumps, compressors, motors, gearboxes, and associated systems.
- Demonstrate experience using SAP Plant Maintenance (SAP PM), Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), and reliability analytics to identify opportunities and improve equipment performance.
- Possess the following certifications, or be willing to obtain at least one of them: Machinery Lubrication Engineer/Technician certifications (MLA I and/or MLT I), Vibration Analysis Category II, Ultrasound Level I, Infrared Thermography Level I, API 570 Piping Inspector or API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector.
