We are looking for an Account Manager - Pharma Solutions to join our Nutrition & Health team in the Research Triangle Park area.

As an Account Manager within BASF Pharma Solutions, you will play a key role in expanding our business and strengthening relationships across the pharmaceutical and biopharma market. You are a proactive, customer-focused professional who enjoys identifying new opportunities, building long-term partnerships, and driving sustainable growth.

This position requires approximately 50% travel.

Driving Business Growth Through New Opportunities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the assigned U.S. territory, with a focus on pharmaceutical and biopharma customers.
  • Build and nurture relationships with prospective customers, helping them understand the value BASF can bring to their business.
  • Develop and execute territory and account plans that support strategic growth objectives.
  • Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and guide opportunities through the commercial process to successful outcomes.

Delivering Commercial Excellence

  • Lead customer discussions and negotiations with confidence, professionalism, and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their needs and develop mutually beneficial business solutions.
  • Position BASF as a trusted partner by bringing industry insights, technical expertise, and value-added recommendations.
  • Drive profitable growth while maintaining sound commercial judgment and pricing discipline.

Building Strong Partnerships and Collaboration

  • Establish trusted relationships with stakeholders across procurement, technical, R&D, manufacturing, and leadership teams.
  • Collaborate effectively with Marketing, Technical Service, Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory, and other internal partners to support customer success.
  • Encourage open dialogue, share insights, and help identify opportunities to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Foster a collaborative approach that supports both customer needs and business objectives.

Driving Results Through Discipline and Continuous Improvement

  • Manage account plans, opportunity pipelines, forecasting, customer visits, and sample requests using Salesforce and related tools.
  • Use market intelligence, customer feedback, and data-driven insights to prioritize opportunities and refine strategies.
  • Continuously develop your knowledge of the market, customers, and competitive landscape.
  • Contribute insights that help strengthen BASF's commercial strategy and support long-term growth.

 

If you…

 

  • Hold a bachelors degree in chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, chemical engineering or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Preferably have 5–7 years of experience in sales, account management, or a related commercial role, ideally within the pharmaceutical, biopharma, or life sciences industry.
  • Bring proven success in new business development or account management within pharmaceuticals, biopharma, life sciences, or specialty chemicals.
  • Have demonstrated strength in competitive selling and negotiation, including winning business against entrenched incumbents.
  • Possess strong executive presence and the ability to influence without authority.
  • Are comfortable operating in ambiguity with the ability to make fast, informed decisions.
  • Are willing to travel within the U.S. territory to win and grow business.

Pay transparency

 

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive pay range for this role is $128,000 – $160,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
