We are seeking a quality professional to lead the Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) team at our Toronto, Canada site. This role is responsible for fostering collaboration and communication across multiple sites and functions while ensuring the highest standards of product quality, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.
The successful candidate will lead a team of laboratory technicians responsible for testing polyurethane products that support product development, process optimization, technology innovation, and customer applications. This position plays a critical role in maintaining operational excellence, driving continuous improvement, and supporting business growth.

- Leading, coaching, and developing the QA/QC team to achieve safety, quality, and business objectives while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and employee growth.
- Building strong partnerships across sites and functions, collaborating with manufacturing, technical, commercial, and customer-facing teams to proactively resolve quality-related challenges.
- Overseeing laboratory testing activities that support product development, process optimization, technology innovation, and customer application requirements.
- Managing laboratory non-conformances and quality issues, including testing errors and proficiency test deviations, ensuring timely investigation, containment, resolution, and preventive measures.
- Coordinating Quality Incident Reports (QIRs), conducting preliminary investigations, assigning ownership, monitoring progress, and ensuring effective closure through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Leading root cause investigations and driving robust Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring issues and strengthen operational performance.
- Providing quality management expertise in customer complaint investigations, partnering with cross-functional teams to address product and production quality concerns.
- Ensuring compliance with quality management systems, regulatory requirements, ISO standards, and internal procedures, while serving as the Quality Control department’s ISO representative.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, operational efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
- Managing the performance and professional development of laboratory personnel through goal setting, development planning, coaching, feedback, performance reviews, and training initiatives.
- Supporting the development, validation, and implementation of analytical methods to ensure the accuracy, precision, and reliability of laboratory results, while contributing to laboratory capital investment planning.
- Maintaining laboratory procedures, documentation, and records in accordance with quality standards, ensuring the integrity and traceability of test data, calculations, and quality control activities.
- Conducting routine audits and assessments of laboratory processes, documentation, and quality systems to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Leveraging data analytics to identify cost-saving opportunities, reduce downgrades, improve product capability, and drive quality enhancements by transforming complex datasets into actionable business insights.
If you have...
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
- At least 3 years of strong knowledge of quality management systems, laboratory operations, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience implementing, maintaining, and auditing ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Basic knowledge and experience with MS Office and SAP.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience leading Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control teams within a manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Experience within the polyurethane, chemical, or related manufacturing industry preferred.

Pay Transparency
BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $80,000 CAD- $110,000 CAD. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
