This position is intended to help ensure stability in critical mechanical skills and provide the site with experienced maintenance talent capable of supporting safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
The Mechanic (Millwright) will perform skilled mechanical maintenance work, including troubleshooting, repairing, installing, aligning, and maintaining industrial equipment. Core skills being sought include millwright experience, and general mechanical experience preferred.
As a Maintenance Mechanic, you create chemistry by...
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment used in site operations.
- Perform millwright tasks such as laser alignment, runout checks, bearing replacement, seal replacement, equipment troubleshooting, and torquing.
- Replace and service lip seals, mechanical seals, packing, and stuffing boxes.
- Support maintenance work on pumps, blowers, couplings, belts, sheaves, bearings, valves, and related mechanical components.
- Perform alignment tasks using straight edge and laser alignment methods, including soft foot checks as required.
- Demonstrate safe and effective use of hand tools, power tools, precision tools, rigging equipment, and mechanical maintenance equipment.
- Work as part of BASF, contractor, or mixed maintenance crews as operational needs require.
- Follow site safety expectations, work procedures, and applicable labor agreement requirements.
- Perform other maintenance duties assigned based on operational and business needs.
If you...
Possess a HS Diploma with a minimum of 5 years of experience in chemical plant operations with strong knowledge of plant functions and processes. Candidates must also have verified millwright experience and demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
- Laser alignment
- Runout checks
- Bearing replacement
- Seal replacement, including lip seals, mechanical seals, and packing/stuffing box work
- Mechanical equipment troubleshooting
- Torquing
