Now hiring! Commercial Operations & Systems Deputy Scheduler
Houston, TX (Hybrid)
We are looking for a Natural Gas Operations Specialist to join our Global Procurement team in Houston, TX.
Where the chemistry happens...
BASF Renewable Energy is BASF’s arm for setting the pace and creating new ideas for BASF on its way to Netzero scope 2 emissions. That implies building and expanding our own renewable power assets (“make”) and overseeing the acquisition of Renewable Energy with long- term supply agreements (“buy”) all across the NA Region.
As a Commercial Operations & Systems Deputy Scheduler, you will play an essential role in ensuring BASF’S U.S. natural gas operations are reliable, accurate, and well controlled. You will support physical gas scheduling readiness, own key commercial operations and system processes in Enuit Entrade, and collaborate closely with traders, the Senior Scheduler, accounting, and business stakeholders to ensure transactions are timely, traceable, and audit-ready.
Come create chemistry with us!
As a Commercial Operations & Systems Deputy Scheduler, you create chemistry by...
- Maintaining Deputy Scheduler readiness by training with the Senior Scheduler and, when activated, supporting nominations, confirmations, imbalance management, and pipeline communications in line with defined controls and escalation procedures.
- Becoming the business owner and super user for BASF’s natural gas ETRM platform (Entrade Enuit) by managing and improving Enuit Entrade workflows, ensuring master data accuracy, supporting transaction setup, troubleshooting issues, and driving continuous process improvements.
- Owning and completing trade confirmations, invoice validation, and settlements by reconciling transaction data, investigating discrepancies, and coordinating resolution with accounting, trading, and counterparties.
- Monitoring and documenting operational activity including scheduled versus actual volumes, imbalances, and pipeline events to maintain accurate, audit-ready records aligned with internal & external approval / governance requirements.
- Enhancing processes, controls, and reporting tools by identifying recurring issues, strengthening reconciliations, supporting user acceptance testing, and implementing practical improvements.
- Coordinating cross-functional communication with traders, scheduling, accounting, and pipeline contacts to resolve time-sensitive operational issues efficiently.
If you...
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Accounting, Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field.
- Have 1+ year of experience in natural gas scheduling, gas operations, pipeline operations, energy logistics, commodity operations, trade support, settlements, invoice reconciliation, or transaction-based systems.
- Possess working knowledge of natural gas scheduling concepts such as nominations, confirmations, imbalances, and time-sensitive operational deadlines.
- Have strong analytical, problem-solving, and Excel skills with the ability to reconcile data and investigate discrepancies.
- Are strong in communication skills and sound judgment when working with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Have the ability to support time-sensitive operational needs, including occasional after-hours, weekend, or holiday coverage.
