Our Corporate Engineering Services team is searching for a Large Capital Project Manager to work in our Houston, TX or Geismar LA, office where we provide the engineering expertise necessary to successfully deliver the strategic projects that allow us to create chemistry for a sustainable future.  

As a Project Manager, you will direct the execution of capital projects throughout the entire project lifecycle for BASF sites within the North American region. You will also have indirect supervision of a project team of BASF and Contractor personnel, will be required to translate project objectives into targets for each of the project team leads, and will be responsible for communicating the project status, concerns, and recommended corrective actions to project stakeholders, typically executive level individuals.

As a Project Manager Staff, you create chemistry by...

• Leading a diverse team in the planning and execution of strategically important projects valued at $25-100M+ throughout the region. 
• Championing the scope development process, ensuring completeness of basic engineering and looking for opportunities for scope optimization and added value through the application of disciplined Value Based Engineering and Risk Management. 
• Understanding and managing customer expectations coupled with your understanding of labor and material market influences which will allow you to develop execution and contracting strategies to effectively meet objectives. 
• Identifying the root cause of conflict and minimizing impact to the project team which will allow you to motivate personnel that indirectly report to you, as well as negotiate terms and conditions of the project regarding overall engineering activities. 
• Demonstrating your strength as a mentor, supporting project team members in their development of technical and interpersonal skills while also ensuring compliance with all BASF policies, procedures, and technical standards ensuring safety through the process' lifecycle. 
• Tracking record of executing capital projects greater than $25M and managing engineering contracts greater than $2.5M as a project owner will enable you to be a significant contributor to global and regional teams dedicated to improving internal project management processes. 

If you... 

• Have a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (preferably Chemical or Mechanical Engineering). 
• Possess experience managing projects in excess of $25M and managing engineering contracts greater than $2.5M. 
• Have a strong ability to influence project stakeholders which will allow you to effectively communicate to executives project status. 
• Possess experience in construction and field activities. 
• Have strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills. 
• Have a working knowledge of SAP project systems (preferred).
