Regional Laboratory Digitalization Specialist – Charlotte, NC

The Regional Laboratory Digitalization Specialist enables dispersions and resins product and process development by serving as the regional lead for laboratory digitalization, LIMS user support, instrument integration, lab network hardware and regional automation coordination. The purpose is to improve consistency, accuracy, validity and usability of laboratory data while reducing manual effort, improving user acceptance and accelerating capture, analysis and transfer of experimental research information across regional laboratory sites.

As a Lab Digitalization Specialist, you create chemistry by...

 

Provide hands-on support for laboratory test methods, instrument integration and material ingredient management. Support harmonized testing protocols and standard applications testing. Connect laboratory instruments and data streams to EDvantage, LabCup or other approved systems where possible to improve data quality and user acceptance. Support instrument integration, middleware connections, lab networking and data capture.

 

Serve as a regional application and user support contact. Coordinate Beta and Production LIMS updates, gather and communicate user feedback, advocate for desired upgrades, support UAT and build a strong Key User Community.

 

Evaluate hardware standards and emerging user interface approaches. Support troubleshooting of lab networking, instrument integration and middleware connection issues while maintaining focus on reliability, cybersecurity and data integrity.

 

Act as a dynamic digitalization point of contact for scientists, technicians, method owners, automation specialists, IT partners and external support teams. Maintain a wide network of enablers, develop citizen digitalization specialists in the laboratories and build the organizational awareness needed to work effectively across functions, sites and global communities.

If you have...

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related technical field and 5 years of relevant experience is required. Experience with laboratory integrations, laboratory informatics, scientific data systems or instrument connectivity is preferred.

 

Experience:

Must have experience supporting laboratory digitalization systems, LIMS workflows, scientific applications or instrument integration in a laboratory, pilot plant, manufacturing technology or research environment.

 

Experience with lab networking, hardware inventory, middleware, instrument connectivity, data acquisition systems, application user support, change coordination and user acceptance testing is preferred. Experience translating user feedback into requirements, actionable resolutions and practical implementation plans is required.

 

Certification as a network engineer or comparable networking, infrastructure, automation, cybersecurity or systems integration credential is desirable. Relocation assistance may be available for eligible candidates if approved under applicable BASF policy and business requirements.

 

Knowledge/Skills:

A working knowledge of laboratory information management systems, scientific data capture workflows, instrument integration, middleware connectivity and digital application support is required. Knowledge of lab inventory management and lab information management systems is preferred.

 

Must be able to communicate effectively with scientists, technicians, IT, automation engineers, method owners and global digitalization teams. Must be able to convert diverse user needs into practical solutions that improve data quality, user acceptance and laboratory productivity.

 

Must demonstrate strong organizational awareness, customer focus, collaboration, problem solving, accuracy, integrity and attention to detail. Must be highly organized, flexible and capable of adapting to priority changes while maintaining reliable execution across multiple sites and topics.
