- Proactively hunt and win new pharmaceutical and biopharma customers across the assigned U.S. territory.
- Identify white spaces, disrupt incumbent relationships, and convert competitor‑held accounts through disciplined prospecting and differentiated value.
- Build and execute ambitious, opportunity‑driven territory and account plans with clear growth priorities and measurable outcomes.
- Take ownership for building a robust pipeline and turning early conversations into signed business.
Compete to Win Through Commercial & Negotiation Excellence
- Lead complex negotiations with resilience and confidence — pushing beyond first objections and superficial barriers.
- Balance speed and decisiveness with responsible risk-taking to close opportunities faster than competitors.
- Position BASF as a strategic partner by challenging customer assumptions and elevating discussions beyond transactional selling.
- Take full accountability for commercial results, pricing discipline, and value realization.
Build Influence and Challenge the Status Quo
- Establish strong, trust‑based relationships with decision-makers across procurement, technical, R&D, and leadership functions.
- Actively challenge customers — and internal stakeholders where needed — to unlock better solutions and faster outcomes.
- Collaborate across Marketing, Technical, Supply Chain, Quality, and Regulatory teams to remove obstacles and accelerate deal execution.
- Break silos and drive momentum when processes, habits, or mindsets slow down growth.
Drive Performance With Discipline and Improvement Mindset
- Own account planning, opportunity management, forecasting, and execution using Salesforce (CRM, pipeline, visits, samples).
- Use facts, data, and insight to continuously sharpen priorities and focus on high‑impact opportunities.
- Actively seek feedback, learn from setbacks, and adjust tactics to outperform targets.
- Bring market, customer, and competitor intelligence back into the organization to strengthen BASF’s go‑to‑market approach.
If you…
- Hold a bachelors degree in chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, chemical engineering or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Possess 10 years of experience in sales, account management, or related within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Bring proven success in new business development or account management within pharmaceuticals, biopharma, life sciences, or specialty chemicals.
- Have demonstrated strength in competitive selling and negotiation, including winning business against entrenched incumbents.
- Possess strong executive presence and the ability to influence without authority.
- Are comfortable operating in ambiguity with the ability to make fast, informed decisions.
- Are willing to travel within the U.S. territory to win and grow business.

Pay transparency
BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive pay range for this role is $128,000 – $160,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
