WELCOME TO BASF

As one of the world's leading companies in this field, BASF Coatings S.L. develops and manufactures coatings for the automotive and industrial sectors. The success of our team is based on innovative solutions and close cooperation with our customers.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

In our global ECR Digital & Data unit, G-ECR/ODS, we design and deliver impactful, data-driven solutions and high‑performing backbone platforms for our customers and internal users. Working in global teams, we promote innovation, ensure reliable operations, and continuously evolve our products and ways of working. We are working according to agile development methods within a 10‑team SAFe Agile Release Train (ART). On this role you will take care of the following responsibilities:

  • Coach & enable two Scrum teams to deliver high‑quality increments, strengthen self‑organization, and live agile values and principles.
  • Plan and facilitate all Scrum/SAFe events (Daily, Refinement, Sprint Planning, Reviews, Retros, PI Planning, Inspect & Adapt) and manage timelines, resolve problems and coach team members on agile methodologies.
  • Identify, prioritize, and remove blockers swiftly; manage structured escalations and ensure holistic follow‑ups & resolutions.
  • Partner with Product Owners to ensure clarity of requirements, dependencies, priorities, Definition of Ready/Done, and transparent status of work items.
  • Use agile and flow metrics (e.g., velocity, WIP, cycle/lead time, predictability, flow efficiency, escaped defects) to steer progress of the team and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate dependencies, risks, and objectives with the Release Train Engineer and other Scrum Masters / Product Owners across release train.
  • Orchestrate structured triage, communication, prioritization, resolution tracking, and post‑incident actions; ensure stakeholder transparency.
  • Coordinate responses to major incidents/critical outages, ensure swift reaction times, lead/coordinate root‑cause analysis, and drive stabilization & preventive measures.
  • Align proactively with business owners, architects, platform teams, QA, and operations.
  • Contribute to the Agile Community of Practice; introduce best practices, training, and experiments that raise organizational maturity.
  • Encourage engineering excellence (DoD/DoR, test strategy and automation, CI/CD awareness) and reliable, secure delivery in a regulated enterprise environment.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • University degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering – or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
  • Found experience as a Scrum Master in complex, global environments – ideally with hybrid teams (internal & external contributors).
  • Strong SAFe understanding and hands‑on experience in ART contexts; confident facilitation of PI events and Inspect & Adapt.
  • Proven impediment, incident, and emergency management skills in production/mission‑critical settings (including major incident handling).
  • Comfortable working with KPIs/flow metrics to inform decisions and improvements.
  • Excellent communication, conflict navigation, and facilitation across time zones and cultures.
  • Certifications such as PSM/PSPO, CSM/CSPO, SAFe SM, RTE, and/or ITIL 4.
  • Fluent English; additional languages (e.g., German or Spanish) are advantageous.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • The jobholder may also be located at an ECR site outside Spain in EMEA. The Specialist would administratively report to the ECR organization in his or her country and operationally to the Manager of G-ECR/ODS.
  • A modern, global work environment with hybrid international teams and meaningful products.
  • High degree of ownership within a strategically relevant SAFe Release Train.
  • Flexible working hours, remote-friendly setup, and collaborative culture.
