Cyber Security Engineer (m/f/d)

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

The newly established Coatings Cybersecurity organization within the BASF Coatings division is a strategic initiative designed to safeguard digital assets, ensure regulatory compliance, and support innovation across global operations. With a focus on efficiently managing risks and partnering in our digital transformation, we empower BASF Coatings to operate confidently in an increasingly complex cyber landscape while fostering a culture of security awareness and collaboration. In this role you will:

• Design and implement secure system architectures tailored to BASF Coatings’ operational and business needs.
• Collaborate closely with internal cybersecurity experts and the Cybersecurity Defense Center to conduct vulnerability assessments and drive remediation efforts.
• Provide incident assistance, including analysis and response coordination, to ensure rapid recovery and learning.
• Consult on cybersecurity aspects of IT and OT projects, ensuring security is embedded from the start.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of cybersecurity processes, tools, and awareness across the organization.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 2-3 years of proven experience in operative cybersecurity, including hands-on work with threat detection, incident response, and system hardening.
• Familiarity with enterprise security tools, frameworks, and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or similar are a strong plus.
• Strong analytical skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Exceptional communication skills to effectively engage and coordinate with stakeholders throughout the organization in both written and spoken Spanish and English. German is a plus.
