WELCOME TO BASF

In the Coatings division, we offer far more than just paints and coatings. Our approach is to put the needs of our customers at the center and always think one step ahead. Our motto ‘We always go beyond the surface’ makes it clear that we are not only focused on the products themselves, but also on the reasons why we develop them. We are interested in creating innovative solutions that promote future growth and fulfil the requirements of the market. With our extensive knowledge and experience, we work to provide tailored coatings solutions that create real value and build strong partnerships.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Due to the strategic realignment of the Coatings business unit, a dedicated finance department is being established. This presents an exciting opportunity to develop and shape the finance organization from its foundation. Therefore, we are looking for an IFRS Reporting Specialist with the following objectives:

  • You assist in the preparation of annual financial statements, ensure compliance with IFRS standards, evaluate complex transactions in accordance with IFRS, and support both internal stakeholders and external regulatory authorities.
  • Moreover, you provide technical IFRS expertise, implement and monitor accounting policies, and are responsible for thorough documentation to support audits and ensure transparency within the organization.
  • You stay up to date with regulatory updates, integrate them into existing accounting processes and guidelines, and train IFRS users in the finance organization accordingly.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams, including treasury, tax, and other finance functions, you align reporting activities, improve transparency, and align IFRS application with the overall financial strategy.
  • Last but not least, you drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process and technology improvements, integrating system updates, and conducting IFRS training to maintain compliance and operational efficiency.

WHAT YOU OFFER

  • university degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field; a PhD in IFRS or professional certifications such as WP, CPA, or CA are an advantage
  • at least 3 years of professional experience in the IFRS department of a large, preferably multinational company or at a university with a PhD in IFRS
  • experience in the chemical industry or similar industries is an advantage, especially in the context of restructuring or spin-offs
  • comprehensive knowledge of IFRS as well as SAP and advanced MS Office skills
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • very good English skills and strong interpersonal skills to succeed in a multicultural, dynamic environment

WHAT WE OFFER

  • We offer an attractive salary with individual benefits such as performance-related bonuses or a share program. Company-funded supplementary health insurance, accident insurance and an attractive pension plan offer comprehensive coverage.
  • We offer a wide range of local and global development and career opportunities for professional and personal development.
  • As a founding member of the Diversity Charter, BASF stands for diversity – we are proud of our Coatings employee networks WomenInCoatings, ColorPride@EC and CultiConnect.
  • The feedback culture is firmly integrated into our corporate culture, e.g. through regular employee surveys and management feedback.
  • At our location in Münster, we have our own fitness studio “Freizeit” with a physiotherapy practice, permanently employed company doctors, a company restaurant “Auszeit” including a café bar, a bilingual company daycare center “LackiKids” and a vacation program “LackiKids on Tour”.
  • We have 30 vacation days/year (full-time), additional time off options and a 37.5-hour week.
