WELCOME TO BASF

In the Coatings division, we offer far more than just paints and coatings. Our approach is to put the needs of our customers at the centre and always think one step ahead. Our motto ‘We always go beyond the surface’ makes it clear that we are not only focussed on the products themselves, but also on the reasons why we develop them. We are interested in creating innovative solutions that promote future growth and fulfil the requirements of the market. With our extensive knowledge and experience, we work to provide tailored coatings solutions that create real value and build strong partnerships.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

As part of our unit, you play a key role in advancing the digital transformation of BASF Coatings production sites. In the role of Global Production Data Architect, you contribute to building a scalable foundation for the effective use of production and process data across sites and enable data-driven decision-making in manufacturing.

  • In your new role, you define and steer the target architecture for the capture, integration and provision of production as well as process data across multiple sites.
  • You develop standards and concepts for integrating production-relevant data sources such as sensors, PLC, SCADA, historian, MES, LIMS, quality and ERP systems while ensuring data quality, availability and cyber security.
  • Furthermore, you structure production data to enable reporting, performance steering, root cause analysis, process optimization as well as advanced analytics and AI applications, thereby creating the foundation for scalable data products.
  • In close collaboration with business functions, production sites and project teams, you act as a trusted advisor, translate requirements into robust architecture decisions and support the implementation of data-driven solutions.
  • Additionally, you establish global standards for data models, interfaces, documentation and governance to ensure consistency, traceability as well as reusability across sites.
  • Lastly, you collaborate within an international network of sites, experts and stakeholders, drive roadmaps and strategically advance the production data architecture.

WHAT YOU OFFER

  • master’s degree in computer science, engineering, business informatics or a comparable scientific or technical field
  • minimum 5 years of professional experience in data architecture, data integration, industrial data platforms or advanced analytics, ideally in a global production environment
  • strong understanding of production processes and industrial system landscapes as well as solid knowledge of IT/OT integration and standards such as ISA-95, OPC or MQTT
  • strong knowledge of data processing, data modeling and data analysis as well as technologies such as Python, SQL, ETL/ELT concepts and modern data platforms
  • experience in designing scalable data architectures and sound understanding of data quality, governance, information security and standardization
  • strong communication skills in both German and English and confidence in collaborating with global stakeholders
  • willingness to travel approximately 10–20% as required by the role

WHAT WE OFFER

  • We offer a competitive salary with attractive individual benefits, such as performance-based bonuses. Company-sponsored supplemental long-term care insurance, accident insurance (subject to certain conditions), and an attractive retirement plan provide comprehensive coverage.
  • At our location in Münster, we have our own “Freizeit” fitness studio with an attached physiotherapy practice, permanently employed company doctors, an “Auszeit” company restaurant including a café bar, a bilingual ‘LackiKids’ company daycare center, and a “LackiKids on Tour” vacation program.
  • We offer 30 days of vacation per year (full-time), additional leisure options, and a 37.5-hour work week.
  • Employees aged 57 and over receive 2.5 hours/week of additional free time; for employees working shifts, this entitlement applies from the age of 55.
  • We offer a wide range of local and global development and career opportunities for professional and personal development.
  • We offer mobile working within Germany and flexible working time models, such as part-time employment or job sharing.
  • Our social and life counseling service at the BASF Foundation is the central point of contact for social issues and special professional and private challenges, and offers a wide range of activities and events for employees
