CaRLa, the Catalysis Research Laboratory, founded by the University of Heidelberg, by the State of Baden-Württemberg and by BASF SE in May 2006 on campus, represents a joint academic/industrial research institution for combining basic and applied research in homogeneous catalysis (www.carla-hd.de).

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

CaRLa has open positions for postdoctoral fellows (start April 2026 or July 2026) and invites applications from qualified scientists (with appropriate organic, organometallic or inorganic molecular chemistry background) who are interested to work as postdoctoral research fellows in CaRLa. • Within the project, you will have frequent meetings with people from BASF and the University of Heidelberg.
  • Presenting your work on conferences as well as in publications is also expected.
  • You will work on the development of new homogeneous catalysts systems, which includes characterization of organometallic compounds, reactions in autoclaves, catalysis, organic synthesis, mechanistic investigations, experiment planning and use of screening equipment.

WHAT YOU OFFER

  • Ph.D. in organic, organometallic or molecular-based inorganic chemistry
  • experience on homogeneous catalysis and/or organometallic chemistry
  • hands-on experience in preparing and characterizing air- as well as temperature-labile compounds
  • very good skills and knowledge in synthesis
