WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

We are seeking a motivated and talented PhD researcher to join our team focused on the innovative field of sodium-ion batteries. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in energy materials and collaborate with experts in the field.

  • In your new role, you are responsible for the synthesis of cathode active material (CAM) for sodium-ion batteries with a focus on the development and optimization of calcination conditions and material properties.
  • You develop new materials based on layered oxides to improve the performance and efficiency of sodium-ion batteries.
  • Furthermore, you undertake the characterization of the synthesized materials using various methods, such as X-ray diffraction (XRD) or scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and evaluate their performance in sodium-ion battery applications (including capacity, cycling stability and rate capability).
  • Working in a multidisciplinary team, you have the opportunity to contribute ideas and findings to various ongoing projects.
  • The documentation and communication of research results, including scientific publications and presentations at conferences, are also part of your new responsibilities. 

WHAT YOU OFFER

  • successfully completed master's degree in chemistry, materials science or a comparable field with an excellent final grade
  • strong knowledge in the area of inorganic materials, ideally battery materials
  • preparative experience in the field of material synthesis in the laboratory as well as material characterization (ideally electrochemical characterization)
  • team player with an autonomous way of working  
  • very good German and English language skills
