The Process Safety Specialist/Expert will serve as the primary point of contact and advisor for defined specific topics in the field of plant safety to operational units at locations in EMEA.

The final job level will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

• Support and validate Process Safety Reviews for existing plants and investment projects (including plant modifications) throughout all project phases—from planning to implementation—for facilities across Türkiye and EMEA.
• Perform Process Safety Validation for plants, applying methodologies such as HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) to ensure comprehensive risk identification and mitigation.
• Support sites in managing change processes and ensuring compliance with process safety regulations, including SEVESO II requirements.
• Conduct root-cause investigations for process safety-related incidents and share lessons learned to strengthen safety culture.
• Prepare and participate in audits as required; coordinate and maintain documentation for annual plant management reviews.
• Contribution to further development of process safety at BASF: development, revision, and delivery/moderation of trainings on process safety topics in EMEA.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Degree in chemistry, process engineering, chemical engineering, or a comparable field.
• At least 5 years of experience in the chemical industry in research, development, production, or a production-related environment.
• Solid understanding of process safety regulations; experience with incident investigation methods.
• Basic knowledge of explosion protection
• Strong communication skills, ability to collaborate effectively in hybrid and international teams, and openness to feedback.
• Service-oriented mindset with a pragmatic approach to challenges and adaptability to change.
• Excellent command of Turkish and English; proficiency in MS Office and safety management software.
