Patent Counsel Global IP - Nutrition and Health (m/f/d)

WELCOME TO BASF

Our Service Unit Global Intellectual Property is one of the biggest inhouse IP units in Germany. We are responsible for all services relating to patents, trademarks, trade secrets, plant variety protection, copyrights, designs and IP Intelligence, as well as all IP-contracts. We are a global team servicing the entire BASF group and work in close alliance with the operating business units as well as with the research and technology platforms. In this way we create a basis for future business success and actively influence BASF's competitive situation.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

We are looking for a Patent Counsel turning innovation in the area of Nutrition & Health into effective IP value. Our multidisciplinary and international team supports BASF's cutting-edge innovation pipeline dedicated to the development of new products and processes for Nutrition & Health.

• You are responsible for analyzing BASF's research and development results with regard to the protectability and value of achievable protection.
• Protecting these results with intellectual property rights is your profession.
• You are going to be involved in IP contract negotiations and drafting of IP contracts.
• This position gives you the opportunity to analyze third-party intellectual property rights with regard to their scope of protection and their impact on possible BASF products and processes.
• In this context, you are going to advise the business unit on all available options.
• Within this you are also responsible for designing IP portfolios that are optimally aligned with the business strategy and ensure that they are used worldwide to enforce business interests.

WHAT YOU OFFER

• completed studies in chemistry or biochemistry
• qualification as an European Patent Attorney
• strong affinity of using Intellectual Property as a business tool
• basic knowledge of IP contracts is a plus
• fluent communication skills in English
