About The Role:

• Conducts product development work in the laboratory and effectively run R&D projects that support the BASF innovation pipeline to meet the current and future PU rigid foam system business and Raw material development needs for India.
• To establish the Material & Technical solution (PU system), material processing smoothly at customer site, product development, fine tuning. Handling customer complaints, coordinate with lab for developments and quality complaints, etc.,
• Lead pilot plant to ensure the workshop and its operators are able to operate realiable and comply with international standards in pilot plant.
• Lead workshop team to efficient and effective work.
• Ensure all lines safety, quality, personnel issues (including disciplinary) are managed
• Lead pilot plant process management,solve processing issue and optimise process to meet innovation requirement
• Manage the operational priorities by daily production plan and urgent requirement from Global Research, Regional Product development and country TD.
• Manage PTDCI special project (building, pubilc utilities, renovation and other big project˃0.1M Euro) budget overrun, engineering and schedule.

How Will You Do It:

TDC management and Product Development in India

• Identify and develop new applications for PM portfolio in Polyurethane systems for Appliance & Construction business
• Initiate new product development & fine tune formulation to meet customer needs in his region and his expertise in India with close coordination with TD team (Country &Region)
• Aligns technical services and application development with local sales or country needs to achieve success & troubleshooting requirements for existing and new business.
• Manages resources with close coordination with TS & sales team to achieve defined targets.
• Pursue customer driven innovations / New application and manage joint development projects with full accountability
• Collaborate with Internal /External stake holders of business value chain partner for new business development 
• Facilitate Formulation development with the lab and region thru TD – TS / AD Lead
• Closure of Timely NCM resolution, liquidation of non-moving /aged stock and settlement of customer issues
• Serve as a liaison between Country TS and Region TD team to translate success stories into business growth.

 Daily operation in PTDCI:

• Schedule daily production plan, allocate operators to support trials , and manage the conflicts in plant bookings dynamically.
• Implement 5S in whole pilot plant, support preventive maintenance to avoid emergency breakdowns
• Monitor & analyses the working practices within the Pilot Plant, define and agree KPI’s & targets with manager and find Ways of Working for continuous improvement in productivity and reduction in costs. Additionally, provide support and advice to manager on issues of discipline and conflict resolution.
• Propose CaPex in alignment with the PU Segments and TD and in collaboration with segment to manage and coordinate new equipment / utilities installation and commissioning.
• Provide broad based support to lab managers, engineers, and pilot plant users to discover, co-develop design modification and scale-up manufacturing processes to meet consumer requirement and business goals.
• P&ID cloud chart and PSI review and update annually,including P&ID support for new project.
• Process alarm/interlock list update and test confirmation.
• Maintain a Working Knowledge of the technical skills required to Operate, Maintain and Improve equipment as facilitators and coaches for team.
• Promote the development of a highly effective team through strong communication, leading by example.
• To perform any additional duty assigned by Management.

What We Look For:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical /Mechanical /Chemical /Polymer Engineering or related field.

Working Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of hand on experience in plant & R&D operation and production related work. 5+ years of experience in Polymer (Rigid foam) Industry will be perfect.

Technical & Professional Knowledge:

• Knowledge on PU system value chain understanding, formulation development, troubleshooting, processing / foaming & Post Molding process are must.
• Significant manufacturing experience that provides the necessary technical and leadership experience to operate effectively; able build and motivate team, as well as coach it to success.
• Deep understanding of new technologies and trend requirement from customers, work together with Segments through ‘partnership’.
• Good knowledge in process development.
• Demonstrate good knowledge of chemical & mechanical PU equipment’s and process. Familiar with foaming machine technology is advantage.
• Ability to work independently and possess superior writing & verbal communications skills, including good English speaking.
• Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product recipes/materials.
• Must have problem solving and creative skills to find non-standard but sustainable solutions if required. 
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office, all EHS-related IT systems and CAD.
