Objectives of the Position         

 

The purpose of this role is to support compliance with international trade regulations and contribute to the effective utilization of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) across global operations. Within Preferential Management, the role supports BASF in safeguarding against financial and reputational risks by ensuring the accurate maintenance, validation, and processing of information required for preferential origin determination in accordance with applicable customs laws.

 

The position supports the systematic determination of preferential origin through the collection, validation, and maintenance of supplier declarations (long-term and single-use), as well as the preparation and management of key data required for preferential origin assessments, including product compositions (BOMs), supplier information, and other supporting documentation. This role contributes to the accurate issuance of Free Trade Certificates and Origin Declarations for both customer and intercompany transactions while ensuring data integrity, documentation accuracy, and compliance with established procedures.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the collection, preparation, maintenance, validation, and follow-up of data, supplier declarations, certificates, and supporting documentation required for Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).
  • Support preferential origin determination activities through the collection, validation, and maintenance of information and supporting documentation required for origin assessments in accordance with established procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Business Units, Procurement, Manufacturing Sites, Logistics, and Customs teams to support the execution of Preferential Management activities.
  • Work flexibly and collaborate with stakeholders across different time zones to support operational requirements.
  • Participate in Preferential Management meetings and support the preparation of KPI, operational, and performance reports.
  • Communicate with BASF customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure FTA-related requests and documentation requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner.
  • Support activities related to FTA utilization and duty-saving opportunities through accurate data maintenance, documentation management, and timely execution of operational processes.
  • Execute operational activities supporting customs authorizations, regulatory requirements, and Free Trade Agreement processes in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update operational reports by tracking FTA-related activities, including certificates issued, supplier declarations processed, and transactions by customer, product, and legal entity, ensuring data accuracy and timely updates.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, record retention, and audit trails to support compliance with customs regulations, internal controls, and BASF policies.
  • Support process improvement, standardization, digitalization, and automation initiatives to enhance service quality, efficiency, and compliance.

 

Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in the chemical industry would be an advantage.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in Customs, Foreign Trade, Preferential Management, Trade Compliance, Supply Chain Operations, or Shared Services.
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaborate with stakeholders across different time zones.
  • Basic understanding of customs regulations, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), and Rules of Origin.
  • Knowledge of HS tariff classification and customs valuation principles would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of BASF products, business processes, and markets would be an advantage.
  • Exposure to project, process improvement, or system implementation activities would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of SAP master data systems; experience with SAP GTS would be an advantage.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
