Objectives of the Position
This position will assist bulk parcel operation team lead to perform, execute and facilitate all chartering operation activities in handling bulk transportation of BASF group of companies’ products by chemical tankers in Asia Pacific region in a way that is cost efficient and in compliance to all the rules, regulations and standards set by BASF as well as the industry. High standard services aim for on-time delivery, cost efficient, seamless operation, compliance, and safety are key objectives of this position.
Responsibilities
- Execute contract of affreightment (COA) and Spot chartering activities, including cargo demand consolidation, demand planning, vessel nomination, cargo nomination and fixture execution in accordance with the applicable charter party clauses.
- Develop and optimize shipment strategies through cargo bunding and efficient allocation of COA volumes to maximize cost efficiency.
- Identify suitable vessels by evaluating technical and commercial fit-for-purpose criteria such as vessel space, laycan, tank coating, last three cargo, ship vetting status and jetty acceptance.
- Work closely with all relevant stakeholders covering shipowners, brokers, shippers, receivers, terminals, and related BASF entities in ensure seamless bulk parcel shipping charactering operations and where necessary lead the coordination of issue resolution where required.
- Manage critical issues and claims with brokers/ shipowners and affected internal & external business partners, escalate issues further if required and ensure that effective measures are implemented timely to improve customer satisfaction.

Monitor and review performance of shipowners to develop KPIs with the objective of having continuous improvement of the operations.

Providing Support and collaboration with other Global Bulk Parcel Operations team members in matters pertaining to shipping operations and other initiatives.

Work together with BASF stakeholders on projects related to shipping improvements and system related projects.
- Ensure adherence and compliance to all Distribution Safety Codes of bulk cargoes.
Job Requirements
- A degree/professional qualification (e.g. ICS/CILT), BS or BA degree in business management, supply chain management or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years working experience in Parcel tanker operations covering fixture, port fixture, demurrage computation and bulk tank terminal operations.
- Be familiar with chemical tanker shipping market resources and have excellent knowledge and ability in handling the vessel’s stowage and planning to execute shipment, optimize freight and reduce demurrage cost.
- Have basic knowledge of environment (MARPOL regulation), health & safety aspect on bulk parcel product transportation. Have basic knowledge of IBC code, cargo quantity and quality control.
- Possess excellent problem solving, analytical, negotiation and interpersonal skills with can-do attitude.
- Self-motivated, independent, result-oriented team player and able to work under high pressure in adynamic growing environment.
- Possesses excellent communication management skills (written and spoken), analytically inclined and able to work with minimum supervision, proactive, result-oriented and a good team player
- Applicant must be willing to work in Kuala Lumpur.
