About the Role |
The Project Accounting Manager leads project accounting and asset accounting activities, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. The role manages and develops the team, partners with internal stakeholders, oversees project and asset data quality, and ensures SLA adherence. It also provides expertise in IFRS, lease accounting, capitalization, reconciliations, audits, and internal controls, while driving process improvements, automation, and supporting M&A-related projects.

Key Responsibilities |
Stakeholder Management
- Understand stakeholder requirements and provide timely, practical, and solution-oriented support.
- Develop strong end-to-end process knowledge to effectively support business partners.
- Ensure compliant and efficient delivery by establishing technical standards, controls, and process guidelines.
- Collaborate with Book-to-Report teams across regions on operational activities and strategic projects.
- Act as a business partner to BASF internal stakeholders, identifying and implementing appropriate solutions.
Team Management
- Provide disciplinary leadership, including work allocation, target setting, performance management, and continuous feedback.
- Develop team members by identifying capability gaps, strengths, and career development opportunities.
- Build an engaging and collaborative team environment with open communication.
- Mentor Senior Analysts and Analysts, promoting best practices, quality, and strong team collaboration.
- Drive employee engagement, motivation, and team morale.
- Act as backup for the Director and support additional responsibilities as required.
Project Management
- Lead process improvement and optimization initiatives, leveraging digital solutions and automation.
- Monitor SLAs, Balanced Scorecards, and KPIs to drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Ensure stakeholder queries and ad-hoc requests are addressed proactively and within agreed timelines.
- Understand business requirements and provide customized solutions while maintaining high service quality.
Resource Management
- Plan and allocate team resources and responsibilities to ensure efficient and compliant service delivery.
- Manage recruitment in line with approved budgets and workforce requirements.
- Support employee development through structured development plans, coaching, and feedback.
- Conduct regular team meetings and individual reviews to identify and resolve issues.
- Manage and monitor the FTE budget for the team.
Knowledge Management
- Ensure effective documentation and accessibility of process knowledge.
- Drive knowledge sharing and transfer to build sustainable capabilities within the team.
Operational Activities
- Oversee Project Accounting activities for BASF group companies, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion.
- Review asset account closures and ensure appropriate accounting and reporting.
- Ensure project data quality across business units and drive corrective actions where required.
- Lead process design improvements, automation, and digitalization initiatives to enhance efficiency.
- Lead accounting projects related to mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures of business lines or entities.
- Act as the SPOC for audits, internal controls, and other key organizational activities.
- Ensure operations are delivered in line with SLAs, quality standards, and agreed timelines.
- Review accounting transactions, fixed asset postings, master data maintenance, reconciliations, and account clearing.
- Review long-outstanding items for capitalization and ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
- Provide expertise in lease accounting and capitalization in accordance with IFRS.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Professional qualification in Finance (e.g. CA, CMA, Inter CA or BCom with good experience.) or MBA or Master degree in finance / Accounting or related disciplines.
- 12-18 Years of experience.
- Prior experience of minimum 3 years in leading a team of 10 +FTE
- Experience working in MNC and Captive GCC experience is preferred

Technical Skills |
- Advanced knowledge in standard Microsoft Office software (word, excel, power point).
- Proficiency in English required with good communication in verbal, writing and interpersonal skills with high customer focus. Proficiency in other languages is a plus.
- Knowledge of SAP system is mandatory.
