About the Role |
The Product Costing & Inventory Valuation Manager leads costing, inventory valuation, and month-end/year-end closing activities. The role manages the team, ensures compliance and accuracy, partners with stakeholders, and drives process improvements, digitalization, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities |
Stakeholder Management
- Understand stakeholder needs and provide relevant, timely, and solution-oriented support.
- Develop a strong end-to-end process understanding and leverage it to deliver value to business partners.
- Ensure the team delivers compliant, efficient, and high-quality services by establishing and maintaining technical standards.
- Collaborate with Book-to-Report teams across regions on operational activities and projects.
- Act as a business partner to BASF internal stakeholders, identifying, evaluating, and implementing effective solutions.
Team Management
- Provide disciplinary leadership, including work allocation, goal setting, performance evaluation, feedback, and decision-making.
- Develop team members by identifying strengths, development needs, and career opportunities, and implementing appropriate development plans.
- Foster an open, collaborative, and inclusive team environment with strong communication.
- Mentor Senior Analysts and Analysts, promoting quality, best practices, and team collaboration.
- Drive team engagement, motivation, and morale while supporting employee development.
- Act as a backup to the Director and undertake additional responsibilities as required.
Project Management
- Lead and support process improvement and optimization projects, leveraging digital technologies to enhance efficiency and value creation.
- Monitor SLAs, Balanced Scorecards, and KPIs to ensure continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Ensure stakeholder queries and ad-hoc requests are addressed proactively and within agreed timelines.
- Understand business requirements and work closely with stakeholders to deliver customized, high-quality solutions in line with SLAs.
Resource Management
- Allocate resources and responsibilities effectively to ensure high-quality and compliant service delivery.
- Manage recruitment activities within the approved budget and workforce requirements.
- Identify employee strengths and development needs and support their professional and career development.
- Conduct regular team meetings and individual reviews to identify and address issues effectively.
- Manage and monitor the FTE budget for the team.
Knowledge Management
- Ensure proper documentation and accessibility of process knowledge.
- Facilitate effective knowledge sharing and transfer to build sustainable capabilities within the team.
Operational Activities
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing and reporting in line with BASF guidelines and work instructions.
- Oversee activities related to Product Costing & Inventory Valuation, Project Accounting, Cost Center Accounting, Profitability Analysis, Non-Trade Transactions, and Reporting/BI Solutions.
- Provide guidance on inventory valuation and support the team during month-end closing activities.
- Review actual vs. standard cost and production order variance analysis prepared by the team.
- Review and oversee the Annual Operating Plan, including fixed production costs and variable cost rates.
- Review inventory valuation adjustments and inventory provision calculations, including provisions for slow-moving inventory, NRV, and replacement price.
- Ensure timely communication with stakeholders regarding progress, issues, and resolutions.
- Drive continuous improvement, automation, and adoption of new technologies and systems to enhance operational effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor’s degree in finance / CA / CMA
- 10 - 18 years of progressive experience in Accounting, Controlling, Costing, Financial Reporting or Shared Services environments.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and people management experience.
- Prior experience of Leading a team of 10 employees.
- Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in MNC and Captive GCC experience is preferred

Technical Skills |
- Advanced knowledge in standard Microsoft Office software (word, excel, power point).
- Proficiency in English required with good communication in verbal, writing and interpersonal skills with high customer focus. Proficiency in other languages is a plus.
- Knowledge of SAP system is mandatory.
