Senior DevOps Engineer SAP SD (Order-To-Cash) – Functional 

The Product team for Order Management creates, delivers and runs digital applications for users managing sales & distribution activities in the movement of goods between BASF divisions and end-customers. Working agile, we enable functionality of core systems & processes.  We partner and consult with stakeholders to innovate solutions proactively across multiple technology platforms to anticipate future needs. 

This position is especially foreseen to support the migration from an R/3 ERP to S/4 HANA and a Multi-ERP Approach of BASF. 

Your main responsibilities include: 

• Support gathering of requirements and creation of user stories. 

• Design solutions and do configurations/customization. 

• Technical design of application enhancements and new applications for BASF Order to Cash processes. 

• Development of those applications by using state-of-the-art programming methods and ensuring compliance with all relevant BASF guidelines for development (clean core, cloud compliance, etc.) 

• Management of complex development environments using both internal and external resources 

• Ensures runnable, supportable and stable solutions from a technical point of view together with operations. 

• Contributes to planning and provides cost estimations for complex projects. 

• Supports creation of (functional) Solution Design Documents 

• Supports testing and error correction activities. 

• Support the technical consultants in functional topics. 

• Prepare and execute functional tests. 

• Maintain user documentation. 

• Collaborate with internal BASF partners. 

• Work on tickets that cannot be solved by the first level support. This comprises analysis of the issues, implementation of solutions, instruction, and training of the affected user. 

• Support change requests / projects with effort estimations. 

• Active and proactive collaborating, self-organized pulling of tasks from a backlog. 

• Support of the BASF Digital roadmap, helping GDS to identify, execute and implement customer-centric digital solutions in an actionable and measurable way. 

Our main requirements: 

Education 

Successfully completed studies in computer science, business informatics or a comparable qualification 

Required skills / experience: 

• Minimum 4-6 years related working experience with complex SAP applications. 

• Hands‑on experience in SAP Settlement Management / CCM, with strong knowledge of rebate and commission processes, condition contracts, accruals, settlement flows, and FI integration 

• Experience with S/4HANA, supported by functional knowledge of SAP SD Order-to-Cash processes, including sales orders, invoicing, pricing conditions, and related SD configuration/customizing. 

• Strong understanding of SAP pricing procedures, condition types, and access sequences 

• Outputs (Adobe Forms, Smart Form) (incl. E-Invoicing) 

• SAP Development & Enhancement Capability (ABAP / ABAP OO) 

• Experience working in a global environment with strong English communication skills 

Desired skills / experience (nice to have) 

• Experience with FI/CO 

• Experience with SAP Fiori 

• Knowledge of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) 

• Knowledge of other SAP modules like MM / FI / TM 

• Experience with agile frameworks like Scrum or Kanban
