About the Role |
The Cost Accounting & Profitability Analysis Manager leads cost center accounting, profitability analysis, income statement, and non-trade accounting activities for BASF group companies. The role manages and develops the team, ensures accurate and compliant financial reporting, and acts as a business partner to internal stakeholders. It oversees cost allocation, expense distribution, financial and management reporting, and data consistency while driving process improvements, automation, SLA/KPI performance, and operational excellence. The role also supports audits, internal controls, cross-regional collaboration, and strategic projects to enhance business decision-making and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities |
Stakeholder Management
- Understand stakeholder requirements and provide timely, practical, and business-focused solutions.
- Develop strong end-to-end process understanding to effectively support business partners.
- Ensure the team delivers compliant, efficient, and high-quality services by establishing and maintaining technical standards.
- Collaborate with Book-to-Report teams across regions on operational activities and projects.
- Act as a business partner to BASF internal stakeholders, identifying, evaluating, and implementing appropriate solutions.
Team Management
- Provide disciplinary leadership, including work allocation, goal setting, performance management, and continuous feedback.
- Identify employee strengths and development needs and drive individual development and career growth.
- Build an open, collaborative, and engaging team environment that promotes effective communication.
- Mentor Senior Analysts and Analysts, encouraging best practices, quality, and team spirit.
- Drive employee engagement, motivation, and team morale.
- Act as backup for the Director and support additional responsibilities as required.
Project Management
- Lead and support process improvement and optimization initiatives, leveraging digital technologies and automation.
- Monitor SLAs, Balanced Scorecards, and KPIs to ensure continuous improvement in operations and service delivery.
- Ensure stakeholder queries and ad-hoc requirements are addressed proactively and within agreed timelines.
- Understand business requirements and provide customized solutions while maintaining high service quality.
Resource Management
- Effectively allocate resources and responsibilities to ensure compliant and efficient service delivery.
- Manage recruitment activities in line with approved budgets and business requirements.
- Support employee development through coaching, development plans, and regular feedback.
- Conduct regular team meetings and individual reviews to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Manage and monitor the FTE budget for the team.
- Knowledge Management
- Ensure proper documentation and accessibility of process knowledge.
- Promote effective knowledge sharing and transfer to build sustainable capabilities within the team.
Operational Activities
- Oversee Cost Center Accounting, Income Statement, and Non-Trade Accounting activities for BASF group companies and businesses.
- Review the allocation and distribution of expenses across cost objects and ensure accurate monthly income statement reporting.
- Analyze and ensure consistency between financial and management reporting modules.
- Review the correct allocation and accounting treatment of monthly and annual income statement positions.
- Drive process improvements, automation, and digitalization to enhance efficiency and service quality.
- Act as the SPOC for audits, internal controls, and other key organizational activities.
- Ensure all operational activities are delivered accurately, timely, and in line with SLAs and BASF guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor’s degree in finance / CA / CMA
- 10 - 18 years of progressive experience in Accounting, Controlling, Costing, Financial Reporting or Shared Services environments.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and people management experience.
- Prior experience of Leading a team of 10 employees.
- Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in MNC and Captive GCC experience is preferred

Technical Skills |
- Advanced knowledge in standard Microsoft Office software (word, excel, power point).
- Proficiency in English required with good communication in verbal, writing and interpersonal skills with high customer focus. Proficiency in other languages is a plus.
- Knowledge of SAP system is mandatory.
