The Senior Cost Center, Profitability Accounting Specialist supports business units in preparing company income statements, focusing on cost center allocations, variance explanations, and monthly EBIT analysis. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the role also supports non-trade activities, leads process improvements, contributes actively to business-transformation initiatives and global communities, and shares knowledge and best practices across the team.

•  Perform daily and monthly activities related to Cost Center Accounting, Income Statement, Profitability Accounting, and Non-Trade processes for BASF group companies and businesses in the Americas.

•  Process the complete monthly distribution of expenses across cost objects and generate monthly income statements to support business decision-making.

•  Ensure consistency and accuracy of information between the financial accounting and management accounting modules.

•  Review and analyze the correct allocation of monthly and annual income-statement positions.

•  Analyze variances against prior periods and support monthly EBIT reporting and explanations.

•  Actively participate in merger, acquisition, and divestiture projects involving business lines or companies.

•  Participate in global communities by supporting the subject-area lead and/or area expert.

•  Improve process design and workflow by identifying opportunities for enhancement and automation through new technologies and systems, and help ensure correct implementation.

•  Support key organizational requirements, including audits, internal controls, reconciliations, and process-efficiency initiatives.

•  Share knowledge and best practices to help colleagues develop their skills.

•  Education: Professional qualification in Finance (e.g. B com, CA, CMA, etc.) or MBA or master’s degree in finance / accounting or related disciplines

•  Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, finance, business reporting, or a related field.

•  Process Knowledge: Strong understanding of cost center accounting, expense allocations, income-statement reporting, profitability analysis, non-trade processes, and month-end activities.

•  Decision-Making: The role operates with a high degree of autonomy and makes timely decisions without immediate consultation when appropriate.

•  Leadership: No formal leadership position is required; however, the role is expected to share knowledge and best practices to support team capability development.

•  Project Experience: Project-related experience is preferred.

•  Core Skills: Strong analytical capability, customer focus, problem-solving, organization, prioritization, proactivity, autonomy, attention to detail, collaboration, and effective communication.

•  Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

•  Advanced Excel skills are required.

•  Working knowledge of SAP is required.

•  Fluent English is required.

•  Strong knowledge of financial and management accounting processes, cost objects, profitability analysis, and internal controls.

•  Experience with process improvement, automation, or new technologies is an advantage.

•  Experience in a shared services, multinational, or GCC environment is preferred.
