What to expect:

  • Our 20-month Digital Trainee Programme will give you insights into the various activities that take place in Digital Hub Kuala Lumpur.
  • You will familiarize yourself with various topics across various systems, and how it works in the larger BASF landscape.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of unit-specific and cross-unit tasks.
  • After just a short time, you will assume responsibility for exciting projects or subprojects.
  • You will be assigned to four rotations, each lasting approximately five months each.
  • Upon successful completion of your rotations, you will have the opportunity to do a rotation in other Global Digital Hubs to expand your network and further develop your intercultural skills.

 

The team Data Products and Semantics coordinates the creation and management of data products. Data products are reusable sets of data for enterprise-wide usage with high-quality and prepared to be fit for purpose. To ensure a smooth and solid governance and curation of data products we develop and optimize the tool Data Product FAIRway. FAIRway guides Data Product Owners through all steps of lifecycle management of a data product. Ultimately, all data product metadata are transmitted to the data catalog and build the foundation for users to explore and shop data products.

 

As a trainee at Data Products & Semantics you will be part of the FAIRway development team and support to achieve the next milestones towards an expanded Data Ecosystem.

  • You will work according to agile methodology and be integral part of planning, executing and reviewing sprint items
  • You’ll hands-on develop needed components (backend or frontend) and collaborate with your colleagues to achieve the relevant steps
  • You’ll contribute to improve the user experience with the tool
  • As part of our strategy, we are integrating further data product platforms (e.g. for SAP-based data products) into our Data Ecosystem – you will learn and be able to work with BASF’s main data sources as they are added to the Ecosystem

 

To succeed in the role, you: 

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics, Business Informatics, or a related field.
  • Fresh graduate or up to 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Basic programming skills in Python.
  • Understanding of modern front-end development concepts and frameworks (e.g., Vue.js).
  • Basic knowledge of API integration and web services.
  • Basic understanding of cloud technologies and software architecture concepts.
  • Strong learning agility, a positive attitude, and a growth mindset.
  • Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Passion for technology, software engineering, and continuous learning.
