  • Engineer located in Shanghai who is dedicated to develop automation and IT solutions for team.
  • Establish robust material handling, automation and Data/Systems Architectures for catalyst sites in Asia.
  • Support global and lead local Digitalization efforts, represent Asian sites and ensure visibility of local projects to the global group
  • Drive close Cooperation with operations, technology and site management employees
  • Ensure visibility of local projects to and cooperation with the global group
  • Foster knowledge exchange between local sites and central functional units, while providing easy access to relevant Competence Centers of Automation or Information Services.
  • Main Tasks:
  • Support catalysts sites in Asia on their Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and transfer their new demands/requirements into systems functionality.
  • Design and develop production line integration concepts
  • Steer the implementation of production line integration together with the supplier(s) and central functional units.
  • Horizontal/Vertical automation integrations (ERP – MES - SCADA/DCS), robust material handling setup and integration, inline testing integration, unit integration and orchestration.
  • Establish expertise in powder handling systems, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • Support Digitalization efforts within BASF Catalysts division
  • Align standardization and innovation activities in catalysts global technical community.
  • Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in computer science or electrical engineering or control systems engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in Production Automation or IT
  • Expertise in systems and architecture design
  • Demonstrated ability to lead significant, complex projects and successfully manage cross functional teams.
  • Knowledge in Agile Development Techniques is a plus
  • Programming skills either in Automation or IT programming languages is a must.
  • Applied skills in object-oriented programming: javascript, C++, C# (.net environment)
  • Extensive experience in software architecture design and set up: Service Oriented Architectures (REST, SOAP, webservices)
  • Knowledge in database programming and integration: SQL, Oracle
  • Strong interest in automation systems for discrete manufacturing processes
  • Communication and networking skills required to bridge between local and global teams
  • Chinese and English fluent.
