Description

This position is based at BASF PETRONAS Chemicals' Sdn Bhd, a RM3.4 billion joint venture that combines the innovative strengths and capabilities of two well-established Fortune 500 companies, BASF SE (60%), the world's leading chemical company and PETRONAS (40%), Malaysia’s fully integrated energy company with a wide network of operations around the world. OBJECTIVES

  • Establish and implement the Inspection Program in accordance with company guidelines, Codes and
  • standards, and legal regulations. (e.g., ASME, API, DOSH, BASF technical rules, guideline etc.)
MAIN TASKS

  • Based on the work order and defined requirements, develop and execute inspection plans and schedules upon alignment with other functional divisions like Engineering, Operation, Maintenance and Asset and Reliability Management.
  • Responsible for the assigned area RBI data management and assessment.
  • Based on the RBI output in combination with the plant CF scheme, generates inspection plan and Scheme of Examination (SOE) and get aligned with TAR team, organize and planning the inspection resource, and ensure the scope is executed completely and correctly.
  • Based on work order, analysing inspection requirements and needed qualifications, Assign / provide direction for in house inspector or contractor inspection / technical personnel to meet the inspection workload demand, explain their work scope and technical requirements and provide other necessary back up information/documents.
  • Preparing the inspection service request. Proposing and Tracking the cost of inspection services.
  • Coordinates services of contracted inspectors. Ensure the engaged personal are with right qualification and deliver required quality of reports.
  • Analysing inspection findings, review and verify the results. Generates repair / upgrade / modification recommendations / guidance regarding equipment and piping integrity, Communicate verbally and in writing to other internal functional divisions in clear, organized and effective manner.
  • Support trouble shooting through root cause failure analysis, expert advise and provide guidance for repairs and review procedures prepared by contractors. Make overall repair and inspection report after the repair completed and ensure sound documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and complete inspection records in area of responsibility and transfer timely into RBI system as well as SAP for work order closure. Audit the Inspection database and inspection files at regularly basis to ensure the inspections are completed as planned.
  • Support in performing root cause and failure analysis (RCFA). Support failure analysis activities and recommend mitigation methods. Collaborates with Maintenance on development and implementation of risk-based routine inspection and preventive maintenance PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) task.
  • Responsible for liaison with State and HQ DOSH regarding regulated compliance issues, and preparing for document submissions regarding DOSH scope equipment and piping registration for Projects, routine inspection, repair, CF renewal and extension. Ensure the CF for operated assets are achieved in timely manner without operation interruptions
  • Perform both in-plant and off-sight fabrication shop inspections to ensure proper fabrication techniques, practices as well as specified requirements are being followed.
  • Support periodic evaluations / audits of vendor shop or in-house contractors to ensure they are qualified for use. Managing their performance and NCM.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Mechanical / Material / Welding Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university
  • Minimum 8 years working experience with preferably in a petrochemical, chemical or oil and gas industry
  • Competent knowledge and practice skill in RBI methodology, corrosion loop identification and damage mechanism.
  • Sound understanding of local and international codes and standards.eg. ASME, API, BS, etc.
  • Sound knowledge of material and inspection pressure vessel, piping, and their NDT testing requirements.
  • Having highly proactive attitude with strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Able to work under intense pressure in a fast paced environment and deliver within tight deadlines
  • Proactive, committed and result oriented team player
  • Good in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both spoken and written
