Objectives of the position:
Technical field support for customer lines in SEA - focus on Automotive OEM, Automotive Components, ACE and Industry, including:
- Support new line start-ups/switches
- Troubleshooting activities at customer lines
- Survey key/strategic accounts and provide continuous improvement suggestions and support
- Use combination of technical expertise, problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills internally and externally
Core responsibilities:
Customer-Centric Technical Expertise
- Responsible and accountable for effectively supporting customers on-site, addressing both immediate troubleshooting needs and long-term process optimization. Follow up on monthly reports with local teams to secure quality standards and customer expectation
- Proficient in technical procedures and Chemetall product application know how, with the capacity to oversee new line start-ups/switches, make‑up calculations, quality/parameter checks and troubleshooting in a structured manner
- Supporting sales and segments gaining new customer projects
- Consult on new‑plant layout design and plant optimization initiatives
Analytical Problem Solving and Process Improvement
- Evaluation and analysis of process data to identify optimization opportunities
- Responsible for documenting and interpreting technical findings, suggesting improvements and sharing best practices that contribute to continuous improvement
Knowledge Sharing and Technical Training
- Responsible for guidance and training to SEA customers, effectively communicating technical information and fostering knowledge transfer
- Prepare, document and share troubleshooting experiences and lessons learned across the region
Adaptability and Initiative in Technical Projects
- Self-motivated and proactive in supporting customer projects
- Takes initiative in managing ad hoc tasks, adapting to new responsibilities and working closely with SEA sales and segment teams to achieve customer project objectives
Documentation and Compliance with Standard Procedure
- Drive standardization of line documentation and promote the effective use of existing and future digital tools (e.g. Vista, GardoVision)
Collaborative Teamwork and Communication
- Engages with cross-functional teams (internal and external), demonstrating effective interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Act as the communication link between local and regional by collaborating effectively in English
- Communicate identified technology gaps and opportunities Key Industry Managers
Professional and educational qualifications:
- Education: Min. Bachelor’s Degree (MSc preferred) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field
- Good verbal and written English skills, fluent in reading, writing and speaking
- At least five (5) years experience in Surface Treatment
- Strong foundation knowledge in chemical pretreatment processes, customer line, operation and troubleshooting
- Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills
- Self-motivated, proactive with a demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
- Highly flexible to priority change
- Very open to business travels >= 70 %
